RE: NorthStar Owners Say Hi!

I like my TC800. I've never used it for winter camping - It's hard enough to find the time during nice weather. You can expect great service from Northstar.

RE: Dodge Truck rear window slider latch question

here's a link to the 2003 ram parts manual. Look at page 890 of 909.
http://dodgedieselpartspdf.net/files/03DR.PDF
I looked at a couple of part numbers from the parts manual on dodgeparts.com - they didn't have the part # in the database.

RE: do i need all 4 tires in load range E

I put 4 bfg load range "D" on my Ram 1500. As long as you are comfortably within the tire load spec - I think you will be fine. Though I would recommend replacing all 4 at the same time.
How much rig are you carrying? The axle limit rating is 3900lbs for a ram 1500. My bfg are rated for 3195lbs each - load D tires leave a lot of room to overload the axle.

RE: Outside shower & sewer storage in a Northstar TC800

Well - I installed the outside shower. Works good. I plumbed it with pex and push on fittings.

RE: Outside shower & sewer storage in a Northstar TC800

Thanks for the picture. Thats what I had pictured in my mind.
In a TC800 - the hose will be laying on my dishes. I'll have to be carefull to clean the hose off before I push it back in the camper.

RE: Outside shower & sewer storage in a Northstar TC800

I have contacted them about the shower - they didn't have any pictures for me. I didn't ask about the sewer hatch.
I purchased the shower unit direct from them - let me add they have great service! Ordered in the afternoon on a Friday - received my order on Monday. It helps they are only about 150 miles from me.

Outside shower & sewer storage in a Northstar TC800

Is there anyone out there that has a northstar TC800 with the outside shower factory installed?
I'm looking for a picture of the backside on the shower (inside of the kitchen cabinet). I'd like to see how the pipes are run & how the sprayer hose is coiled inside the cabinet.
Also, I believe a sewer storage hatch was an option on the northstar TC800. Anyone got a picture of where the storge hatch goes? I'm adding one of these as well - my TC800 has the optional toilet.
Thanks!

RE: E load range needed in 1/2 ton w/ 815?

I have load range D BFG all terrains on my 2003 ram 1500. 285/75/17 with a 3195 load rating I believe - They should work well with my popup northstar.

RE: Smallest Window A/C Unit

Find a manufacturer & visit their website. They often have specs for individual models. See GE's website - they have many models with dimensions given.
Or - see what's available at your local Wal-mart, open the box & measure it.
My Northstar TC800 has a small ~5000btu GE air conditioner.

RE: Confused

I have a Northstar TC800 (with 8' floor). The TC650 has a 6.5' floor. I wouldn't want anything bigger or heavier than the TC800.
In response to VintageRacer - one thing you shouldn't have to worry about is the automatic transmission in a dodge 1/2 ton - It's the same as in the 3/4 ton (with the hemi). Yes, it is going to more stress on the axle & brakes.

RE: Confused

I have my 2003 Ram 1500 setup to carry a camper.
Here it is:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm246/hallkevin_photos/P1010823.jpg
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm246/hallkevin_photos/P1010824.jpg
My only truck improvements are rancho 9000XL shocks, timbrens, and BFG AT load range D tires. It handles the load pretty well, but it sure does suck gas. About 10mpg with the 4.7L - down from 15mpg unloaded.
I sure couldn't recommend getting a hardside for a 1/2 ton. My campers tag says it weighs about 1700 lbs wet (without other needed junk). My truck came with the truck camper loading information when new - it said I could carry one that weighed 149lbs (yes that is correct). I think I'm slightly over. :)
My truck camper loading info states a max CG distance of 75" from the rear of the truck bed, and a min of 25" from the rear end of the truck bed. As long as it is in front of the rear axle- you should be ok.

RE: Can you stand in the northstar popup truck campers

Yes, you can stand up. I'm 6' tall - it's not a problem in a tc800.

RE: wiring for slide-in pick camper

I agree - it's most likely a "flat four" your looking at. Not intended for charging - just for trailer lights.

RE: wiring for slide-in pick camper

the only bad part about the 5th wheel harness is that you have to drill a 2" hole on the inside of the bed to mount the new plug.

RE: wiring for slide-in pick camper

The tow ready harness tees into the back of the bumper 7 way - it still allows use of the factory 7 way plug.
look here:
www.draw-tite.com & search for part 20111.

RE: wiring for slide-in pick camper

I purchased (yet to install) a Tow Ready Fifth Wheel Adapter Harness (#20111 for a dodge) to route a new 7 pin hookup in the box. This way it won't require a 7 way extension to reach the rear bumper 7 way wiring.
The adapter harness connects into the existing trailer wiring (if your truck has the factory tow package.
This will be used for my new to me 2005 northstar TC800 riding on my ram 1500.

RE: Northstar 2001 Pop Up 800

I have a 2005 Northstar TC800 that was purchased at an estate sale for $3800 last fall - I have yet to use it. I think I got a great deal.
It has AC & toilet.
